Hey folks been catching a few down on the lower end of the lake. Was going to try the upper end of the lake on Monday. Most of what we have caught on the lower end has been green fish. Mostly on crank baits in the mornings until the sun gets up and then plastics on the points has been getting it done. Can't seem to locate any white fish. Was wondering if anyone is finding them on the upper end?
Thanks
Bassman, thanks for getting a discussion started. We are still working on ways to get these a little more visible to our smaller community, and hoping to get some more input and activity into the upcoming years.
I have been fishing from Bartow Carver area all the way up into Little River with success on the line sides. Starting a few weeks ago, a lot of the fish started coming back out of the river and some of the larger stripers were being caught up on the upper north end. They are very pelagic, and have already started dispersing through the lake.
The early morning bite has been the best, but as of even the last few days some of the better catching really didn't begin until around 8:30 - 9:00 a.m.
While we have been feeding these fish a lot of frisky threadfin and herring, I personally make a lot of casts with smaller swim baits, magic swimmers, A-rigs and even the Deracoup this time of year.
There are definitely fish to be had - though we have not seen a lot of big schools staying under the boat or necessarily even relating to point drops, they are moving up and down that channel and using it as their lifeline artery. The forage base changed to include a lot of hearing these past couple years is changing the way the fish relate in some circumstances.
Hopefully you will get out there on Monday and knock them dead - and even if you don't, tough to beat a good morning out on the water. Tight lines!
